Mavi Youth and Sports Club Association carries out activities to protect nature, preserve marine biodiversity, and support sustainable use in the marine environment in the Mediterranean, primarily in Fethiye-Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area, Köyceğiz-Dalyan Special Environmental Protection Area, and Gökova Special Environmental Protection Area. In this context, it carries out studies with local people, children, youth, and relevant public institutions and organizations. At the same time, it aims to popularize the marine culture with sports activities such as canoeing, SUP, and sailing. Mavi Youth and Sports Club Association carried out the “Nature Conservation and Sustainable Tourism” project with the support of the European Union’s ‘Sivil Düşün’ Programme. The contents produced within the scope of the project have supported the development of sustainable/responsible tourism by conveying the ecological and cultural importance of Fethiye-Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area to the local people and tourists. The overall aim of the project is to raise awareness of tourists and local people on issues such as Special Environmental Protection Areas, marine protected areas (MPAs), endangered species, terrestrial animals and marine life, ecological system, culture, waste recycling, responsible use of water, and energy efficiency.
