To sail in Turkey is like being in a dream over the sea with green nature. It is a great place to sail, with many beautiful bays, quiet inlets and numerous archaeological sites along the coast.

Geographically, Turkey is surrounded by sea on three sides: the Aegean Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean. You can sail in the afternoon until the early evening hours if the winds are safe. Turkey’s highest mountain dramatically extends into the sea and  sea is generally clear and warm. The coastline is indented with thousands of gulfs and coves stretching for kilometers from Ayvalık in the northwest to Antalya in the south. You can find all kinds of opportunities in these bays; You can choose silent and secluded areas or you can spend time in large and nightclubs. With its numerous of restaurants on the coast and ease of navigation to them, it is a paradise for all seafarers. Any excursion along this coastline is a journey back in time through numerous archaeological sites, from castles to tombs and temples that reflect the country’s rich and complex history.

As in everywhere one of the most important key to cruising in Turkey is to sail upwind, so when the time comes to go home, there will be clear navigation. The notorious breeze starts around 11:00 am during cruising season. So, if you are going upwind but still want to travel some distance, the advice is to set off at the first light and use the land breezes early in the morning so you can reach the next port without the breeze. The good news is that breeze ends at the night and you can get a comfortable night’s sleep at your anchorage.

Thanks to the natural landforms, there are no strong winds, sudden temperature changes and dangerous currents, on the contrary, there are many quiet, picturesque bays, incredibly beautiful beaches and predictable seas around. Since the distances between the marinas are very short, the absence of long and tiring trips creates ideal conditions for beginner captains and lovers of relaxing holidays.

A must-visit place for a sailor is the country’s Aegean coast from Çeşme to Mediterranean cost Alanya. There, you can anchor in warm turquoise waters and dive from your boat into the clear waters of the sea. You can then enjoy a cold drink on a deck overlooking the magnificent beauty of white and clean sand beaches, hearing the waves hitting your boat.
